Our Story

My name is Brandon Burks, and I’m a native of Southwest Missouri—born and raised in The Springfield area a place I’ve always been proud to call home. I have a deep appreciation for this part of the country and the communities that make it special.

My interest in fireworks started when I was a teenager. I was fascinated by them early on, and that curiosity quickly turned into hands-on experience as my brother and I began putting together small backyard displays for my family’s 4th of July gatherings. What began as a hobby sparked something much deeper.

Like many people, life eventually pulled me in other directions—college, a career, and starting a family. Over time, that early passion faded into the background. But everything changed when I attended a local small-town fireworks show that reignited that same feeling I had years ago. It reminded me why I fell in love with this industry in the first place.

From there, I made the decision to return to it with purpose. I pursued state certification, obtained federal licensing, and gained hands-on experience working with established fireworks companies across the region. Through that experience, I learned not only the technical side of pyrotechnics, but also the importance of safety, discipline, and professionalism in every detail of a show.

With the support of my family—my wife and our children—I took the next step and founded Apex Pyrotechnics. This company represents more than just a business to me; it represents a return to something I was always meant to do.

Today, we look forward to growing, serving our community, and hopefully inspiring the next generation—the same way I was inspired as a young kid watching fireworks light up the sky.
